What is ?

The mistral is a part of the Provencal folklore.

The original word, "Maestral", is Provencal and means "Magistral" (masterly).

Called "Mistrau" or "Tremountano" (Provencal words for "mistral" and "tramontagne"),

it's a North West to North wind, cold and violent.

"ｍｉｓｔｒａｌ" はプロバンスの民話の一つ、語源である "Ｍａｅｓｔｒａｌ" はプロバンス語で "処方した(絶妙)" を意味します。

プロバンスでは "Ｍｉｓｔｒａｕ" あるいは "Ｔｒｅｍｏｕｎｔａｎｏ" と呼ばれ、北ないしは北西の方向から吹く冷たく猛烈な風です。
